FAQ's

Q: When and where will the 2017 North Dakota Leadership Seminar take place?
A: This year’s seminar is set for May 12 - 14, 2017 at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, ND.

Q: Who is eligible to participate?
A: High school sophomores in North Dakota are eligible and are encouraged to apply to represent their school. One student from each accredited high school may be selected to attend the free seminar. Schools determine their selection process locally; please inquire with your school counselor/principal.

Q: Who pays for the Seminar?
A: All costs, except travel expenses, are paid for by many sponsors throughout North Dakota. We are able to provide the seminar free of charge to every student because of the generous contributuions we receive from North Dakota businesses, foundations, individuals, and service organizations who believe in the value of youth leadership development.

Q: What kind of program is planned?
A: During the Leadership Seminar, many dynamic leaders – all volunteers from the fields of business, education, and government – will address numerous aspects of our changing world and the challenges future leaders will confront. The program will not promote any specific political party, business, religion, or way of thinking; but it is designed to develop an awareness of issues by actively invovling seminar participants in discussions and informal debate. The student leaders will have the opportunity to ask questions of the discussion leaders throughout the weekend, which leads to a better understanding of topics presented.

The parents of each student leader are invited to the closing banquet and program on Sunday. Parents and family members are encouraged to attend this program that highlights the experiences the students have at NDLS.
